How to remove rear view mirror
I tried pulling it straight back as per a utube video bot it will not move. I removed the rubber around the part that attaches to the car to see if there were any screws but no screws. Any suggestion.

you really have to yank.... |
You need to grab the stalk and pull it downwards - you can rock it side to side to help get the spring loose.
The spring capsule is in the shape of a buss fuse (pointy style) Its really tight and you need to pull really hard - but dont worry the stalk can take that sort of pulling. |
I sheared the screws off getting mine out. Home depot had ones that worked as replacements. It took a lot of force to get it out.
I got the new one in with a rubber tipped hammer/mallet. |
HOLY CRAP. It took all I had to remove that thing.
Thanks guys for the help. |
Now opening bottle caps with your teeth will seem like child's play! :)

I've had to yank hard enough to get them off that I thought I'd break the mirror. I have to be careful I don't collapse the roof downward...unlimited strength. :D :D

The mirror mounts to a "base" which is then screwed on to the vehicle chassis.
If the base is loose, then there is more "give" and it will be more difficult to remove the mirror. |

I've heard of people cracking the windshield while doing this one.
