1996 W210 E320 misfiring

Hello, I have a 1996 E320 with the m104 engine. It has been suffering from a lot of misfiring lately. I first found out that the wiring harness for the coil signal cable was shorted. I replaced this wiring and bought new spark plugs, spark plug wires, spark plug connectors, and all new coils. The car is functioning much better now but still has an intermittent misfire and sometimes complete spark cutoff on heavy acceleration. Any ideas? I'm thinking mabye the shorting wires have damaged the ECU?
