95 e320 soft top switch issue (Soft top “open” switch)
 

Hi all,

I've been battling an inoperable soft top for a month or so now. I think I've isolated the issue down to the "Soft top “open” switch" on the 3 way switch in the driver's rear panel. I replaced this switch thinking that was the original problem (which prevented the top from moving at all). I can now get the top to move from it's closed position, all the way through to the last stage, where the cover won't close. At this point I get error code 13 - Soft top “open” switch (soft top in storage compartment) (S84/3.

If I manually finish the closing of the cover and then try to close the top, I get error code 4 - Illogical limit switch signals. After inspecting the three way switch, with the top in the compartment, it seems like the arm is not pushing the soft top open switch on the three way (s84/3) in far enough to close the switch.

I tried removing and reinstalling the switch a few times, but it doesn't seem like there's much flexibility in adjusting the switch to meet the arm. Is there something I can look for in the arm itself that may have come out of adjustment? Has anyone run into this before?
