Shock(ing)! Prices!!!!!!!!!!!why!!!!!!

with the amount of 140s out there, there should be another choice for the shocks instead of buying them from the manufacturer(oem)prices for shocks alone(leveling) are outrageous.why doesn't bilstien make these.any ideas out there?

Bad news!

Historically, the 140's are expensive to maintain. Check the prices on all the parts compare to other MB's in FastLane (not to mention labor).

The only cause for replacing rear struts(shocks) is knocking OR leaking. THAT happens when the car is driven for a long time with bad accumulators. WHAT is the problem with the rear struts?
ONLY Sachs (BOGE) has an OE contract on this style of strut.

thanks doc!the real reason for me to change my r/rear shock is that it has a bad bushing at the bottom of the shock where it attaches to the subframe.i don't know any other way to stop the squeak(it only happens when it is warm outside) other than replace the shock-talk about overkill!!i haven't changed my accumulators yet(75k miles) will i know when to do them or is there a time at which they should be done.is this an easy swap?

I am not famialar with your model.

I suspect if you take a sample to your local shock store, there could be an equivelant you can buy.

Bushes going are a common problem in any car.
