Need intructions to Replace Jack Hardpoint (W126)
Hey,
One of the jacking rubber hard points (rear left) came off my W126. I found another W126 at my local junkyard but I don't want to destroy this rubber part trying to get it out with a pry bar. Does anybody have instructions for remove & securely replace this part? I want to make sure that I install it securely so it doesn't come out again. Thanks.

From what I can recall, the part just pops up in there. Getting one out might be another story.

Thanks. I guess you kinda confirm that it should pry out. I just need to be careful. Thanks.

Nothing more than wedging a screwdriver in there and popping it if it's been in there for a bit and which it probably has. Prybar is too much force.
Good luck, it shouldn't take more than a few minutes. |

jia300d, on the 124 cars the jack pads are 2-piece. A center pin locks the jack pad collar in place. Removal requires retracting the pin to release the collar ... a simple process. There is a recess in the collar to insert a large screwdriver and retract the pin.

Thanks Jake and Fredman. I see that I should probably try to get one from a W124. That two part design will be less likely to fall out. Thanks again.

Since its out, might not be a bad idea to spray some sort of internal frame coating product up/down the rocker sills.

Back from the junkyard. Screwdriver worked like a charm. Removed a sunroof from a 1985 500 SEL and will install it on my 87 300SDL. Much simpler than mine and I will avoid using those side brackets that constantly break. But that would be another thread :-).
JamesDean, thanks for the info about the Eastwood spray. It seems to be a great product. I just noticed your signature referencing Cruise Control problems. I will probably contact you when I am ready to tackle that.

Very cool. I prefer eastwood, or POR15. POR15 is expensive, but worth it. Both good products though.
