Looking for Reliable Indie Benz Shop in State College, PA area

Hi Guys,

Been a while, but I check in and read up now and then.
My kid is going to be taking junior semester at Penn State and she'll be bringing her 1989, 190E 2.6 with her this time. It's been a good car so far (about 85K original miles) but should any problems come up I was hoping to be able to locate one or two reliable, honest indie shops in the State College area that are well versed in these old W201, W124 Benzes. Or at least specialize in German cars.
If she breaks down I'd like to have a towing destination lined up in advance.
Any suggestions I can check out would be appreciated.

As an aside, my 1991 300E is still purring along as nice as ever since I did the head gasket job (with lots of help from this forum) 4 or 5 years (and maybe 80K trouble free miles) ago. About 240K on the clock now. I think it was a good decision to put the $$ in keeping it on the road instead of buying another used car. I'm looking forward to getting that 190E when my kid moves on to a more modern (amenities and cup holders!) car. It runs even better than mine :)

Thanks, again for any help with quality indies/shops!!

Just bumping this up, hoping someone might have some suggestions.

Again, looking for a good, reliable and reasonable independent MB shop in the State College, PA area that's good with older E-class Benzes.

long-gone, try asking owners of older MB vehicles you see in State College where they have their cars serviced.

Thanks Ferdman,
That's a good suggestion. Since most indies in this category would probably handle German cars in general that would likely apply to BMW's as well. I may even stop in an auto parts store or two and see what they have to say.

Any other shops or suggestions are still welcome :)

I was stuck in eastern Washington years ago with a bad bearing in a 300E. I limped into Wenatchee and got out the phone book. No Foreign car shops listed. I then called the Chrysler dealer service manager and asked him for advice. He gave me the name of a local garage that worked on Mercedes. They fixed the problem after waiting overnight for a parts delivery out of Seattle. You might want to try this if you get nowhere. Have you checked the "Good MB Shops" forum on this forum?
