Nothing beats the real thing
I stopped by one of my local shops today, actually made arrangments to have some R-12 on hand for a recharge on the 560. 2lbs of r-12 later, the compressor is working great, temp at the center vents after 10 minutes of idling was a mere 40dF.
Don't know why the system was down so low, but the high side cap was missing (was missing when I brought the beast home from the breakers). System pressures are now holding steady at 30 low and 238 high. Sure is nice to have AC. The ACC was doing it job too. I let the car run long enough to almost hang meat, then set the temp wheel to ~72dF. The system came off high cool slowed then changed over to warm. Once the temp stabilized, and the car warmed up, the AC came back on low (at least I hope that's what it is supposed to do). Very nice. |
Does this mean you're going to drive the 560 with the a/c on high when you take your trip to Lost Wages?

What's the real thing going for per pound now-a-days?

"What's the real thing going for per pound now-a-days?"
I honestly don't know. I got the two pounds at cost - $35/lb. I have heard about $50-$75/lb. Paul, yes I plan on taking the 560, cold AC and functioning cruise, should make for a great shakedown cruise. |
My Dad and I did the Ac in my 300SDL:
-Nippo compressor -expansion valve -drier -both drier switches -Freeze 12 freon/similar to FR-12. I'll tell you. This baby blows good and cold. Just like R-12. Way better than R-134a. I'm glad we put the Freeze-12 in. Only cost be $8.00 with tax for a basic can. Well worth the money for the cold here in Florida. |
mine did that about a month ago...$50.00 a pound...3.5 pounds plus I had a bad valve in there..total bill $300.00.
my CD shows it hold 7 pounds but the shop said it 3.5 pounds.. it works great now... benzat 1982 380 SEC |
