W126, 1988 300 SE - heat issue, side mirrors, power visor

Hard to believe, unless you live in Calgary, that cold weather is here in August!

Turned on my heater, blew some "warm" air but not hot, worried about the issued being a radiator.

Tried the various selections but the auto and high blew cold air, regardless that the temp control was on HIGH.

By the time I got to the mechanic, I felt like an ice cube.

Alex checked it and said it is likely the heat core (radiator) and in Germany it was an ~ $1000 EUROS for labor and part!

He re-iterated what someone else said - the coolant is guaranteed for life, however if someone cheaped out and used less than premium fluids, which this car requires, then you're fubarred, the system gets gummed up and it's difficult to blow it out due to blockages and air pockets.

Potential cost: $250 for part (ok) but 9 to 10 hours labour ($$$)

He suggested to run it for a while and see if it clears itself, since it may have sat for a while and where it was before (interior BC) they certainly don't have the cold we get here in Calgary!

Has anyone had experience with this and any advice?

#2 Side Mirror - power control isn't functioning - ideas of what to check besides fuses?

Is there a master list of fuse ID's and where would I find the fuse box in the W126, 300 SE, 1988?

#3 Rear Visors - checked out and worked on inspection - now do nothing, again any ideas on what to check besides fuses?

Had the car detailed in/outside, possible connection ??

Thanks in advance for your insight, experience and advice!

HEAT!! UPDATE:

Stopped at rad specialist, they poked, prodded, squeezed - not enough time to diagnose as they had other commitments - for Friday pick up.

Booked an appointment for next week.

Reconnected with a German car specialist, he said there was heat in 2 top hoses, but cool in the bottom one. Suggested the Rad company I just came from to get a flush and if that didn't work, return to see him.

Perhaps it was blocked, gummed up whatever, he left the defrost on high and suddenly I had HEAT, LOTS OF HEAT BLOWING ON HIGH!

It was so hot, I had to turn the temp down! WOW!!!!

Checked the various levels:

all output working
all options working

It is a 1988 with 185,000 km from the interior BC which doesn't get really cold, so possibly from lack of use it went into semi-retirement

But so far so good!

Cleaned rust off chrome bumper with tin foil, water and little rub, voila!
CLEAN, BRIGHT, SHINY!!!

Thanks to Roberts Cycle for the great and easy fix!!!
