Variable Fan Switch? Someone should invent one.
Hi,
I wanted to know if anyone else feel that way I do about the cooling/heating fan switch on the 300e. Basically one has two choices, barely on or full blast. Most other car companies offer at least a couple more positions or the ability to vary the fan speed. To your knowlege, has anyone ever marekted a fix for my dilemma? If not, someone should, it would be a huge seller. Best Regards, Richard |
I can sympathize. Putting the fan switch on auto and fiddling with the thermostat to get the fan speed right is not my idea of luxury.
When someone invents such a switch, please let me know. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL |
These cars have six fan speeds - check out the owner's manual.
The lower button is speed #1. The higher button is speed #6. If you push the narrow center divider between these two buttons, then both buttons are "out" or "disengaged" and the Automatic Climate Control computer decides which speed of #2 through #5 to give you. As the inside temperature gets closer to what you have the control dial set to, the fan will slow down more. Hope this helps. Ken300D |
I had a Peugeot 504 that had a varyable slider fan speed control, it was great! Except the fan was a little under powered.

VAriable Fan Switch
Hi,
The method Ken reports does work. However, if you live in a hot climate like I do, one has to turn the temp setting UP in order to turn the fan speed down. I need fan speed vairability at ALL temperature settings. Like on almost every other car in existence. Best Regards, Richard |
The W108 and W109 models with Behr AC (maybe with Bosch also) have a continuously variable fan switch. That is my definition of luxury.
