W126 300SE Won't Start

Hello All

I have a 1990 300 SE.
When the problem occurred the car had been running fine. I stopped for a few minutes, restarted drove a metre and it stalled and won't restart.
Spark seems fine and it will fire with starting fluid.
The fuel pump activates and there appears to be a good quantity of fuel at the fuel distributor.
There is no fuel at the injectors or injector ports at the distributor.
When depressing the air flow sensor flap there is no increase in resistance when the engine is cranked.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Alby

Sounds like maybe your fuel distributor is clogged up and not letting fuel out?

Have you checked all of the outputs on the distributor? Maybe its stuck/broken at one specific outlet?

I have checked all the outlet ports at the fuel distributer, none of those that connect to a fuel injector line get fuel.
There is a seventh port that leads to a component on the side of the head or engine block I think and this does produce fuel.

Thanks

Some fuel distributors have a screen type filter at the input connection. If yours has one, it may be plugged.

There is no filter and fuel is passing through the distributer but not through the injector ports.

Hmm I've not worked that much on the fuel distributor but as I understand the unit, its a mechanical device similar to the ignition/spark distributor where a mechanical device spins around and lines up the fuel inlet with one of the injector outlets.

Either yours is not spinning or something is jammed in it not letting fuel flow.

I think you might have to take it off and inspect it closer maybe even replace?

The EHA might also be something to look at. It has to do with regulating pressure between the upper and lower chambers. I am not sure if fuel must pass through it to access the upper/lower chamber or if its just "in parallel with" the chambers. If its in series then a clog in that device could shutdown the distributor.

Just some speculation.

I don't think there is anything that spins in the fuel distributor. I am pretty sure it fuels all six injectors continuously.

Alby:

The KE-Jetronic system that you have, has outlets for the injection nozzles (six, in your case), and for the fuel pressure regulator (one). You have apparently found that there is no fuel flow at the nozzles, but perhaps at the regulator. Can you provide a picture of the device which is receiving fuel flow? If the regulator has failed such that all fuel is being returned to tank, there will not be enough pressure for injector flow.

Another possibility is that the Electro-Hydraulic Actuator (EHA) is being electrically held in the coasting shut-off position, which cuts off all fuel flow.
I think that this is very unlikely.

And you are quite right, there is no whirling dervish or Tasmanian Devil in the fuel distributor (FD). Though perhaps a poltergeist or two.

Oops sorry all. I don't know what I was thinking when I came up with that!

I probably should have thought about it a bit more!

Thanks Frank, I will be having another go this weekend. If I have no luck I will post a picture. Your suggestions do make sense though.

Hey James I really appreciate your interest in my issue so thanks to you also.
