260E/190E 2.6L rough idle in gear
 

New to this forum but not new to MBs. I have a 260E on a w124 I6 and have been having problems with it since I bought it.

First problem with Dis. cap and button thats how I got it. Replaced about 4 times now it burns out every 5-8k miles.

Second I have low Idle speed (500 rpm) in gear after it has warmed up (80-85c) at a dead stop. Hard takeoff from a light.

Third (might go with second) stalls out if I go from park to rev. then to dr. if left on at a store.

Changed OVP, new plugs and wires, D cap and rotor 2k miles ago, radiator flush and fill MB coolant, recent oil change, new brake pads/rotors, new air filter, V reg replacement 1k ago.

Need new gas filter, motor mounts.

Maybe fuel pump (high fuel consumpomtion), cam sensor.

Thats what I have so far. It could be Mswitch on the throttle, cam sensor or O2 sensor, though I have no readings for the last. Any help would be welcomed at any time because this is my daily and need it to run.

I would try looking for vacuum leaks. Does it have the m103 engine? The title says 260E/190E 2.6, but the 260E is built on a w124 chassis while the other is built on a w201 chassis. Anyways, check for vacuum leaks as for the stalling issue and low idle. If no vacuum leaks are found check the EHA valve on the back of the fuel distributor. Also, check the fuel-air mixture. As for the dis cap burning out....check for arcing inside the cap. Check the integrity of the rotor and also check the orange plate that is against the cylinder block that holds the rotor for cracks. That may cause some problems. What I did with mine was cover the enire surface with electrical tape and then spread an even film of silicone over it to make sure I wouldn't get any arcing.
