Injector cleaning cost
 
Hello out there!
I have a 1990 420 SEL and the injectors need cleaning. Does anyone know what a descent price is for this service...ball park?

I paid
 
$24/injector. It included ultrasonic cleaning and pop testing. Work was done at a diesel truck shop, not an MB dealer or specialist.

I've heard from Bosch that based on the design they are not cleanable. Its almost cheaper to just replace them anyway. There was a design update somewhere around your time, so you may have an older design anyway.

to clarify
 
My injectors were from an OM617. I removed them myself, removed the nozzles and provided new Bosio nozzles to the shop. They cleaned the bodies, installed the new nozzles, pop tested and shimmed as necessary to 135Nm.

Psych may be right with newer engines.
