190e Power Seat Switch - Raise/Lower?
I see in the owners manual it should be able to raise/lower. With that switch I can go forward/backward and tilt by turning the same switch. I don't see how it would be physically possible to move the switch up and down on a horizontal plane.
I have the pre-1990 switch that has the springs/balls inside. Is there a trick to this, or can the seat really not raise/lower? |
The seat switch is (without headrest)
8 way. Backrest Fwd Backrest Rev Front Tilt Up Front Tilt Down Rear Tilt Up Rear Tilt Down Chair FWD Chair REV By putting both front and rear tilts up/down you should be able to adjust height. |
When you're tilting the front or rear section of the bottom cushion you're only adjusting one of the two pins below. Pushing both up or down should do the trick. The middle pin is for adjusting fore/aft travel.

That middle pin won't go up/down though.
If you compare it to the ones next to it, you can see the plastic switch body slides on a metal pin. The tilt switches have their pins oriented vertically so the switch body goes up/down as opposed to the center pin which has its oriented horizontally limiting its movement to left/right. |
I can't explain why or how it works, put pushing upwards/downwards on the horizontal switch is raising and lowering the seat. I just wasn't pushing it hard enough. I rebuilt this switch and it's a little loose. I tried on the passenger side and it was easier.
