Advice on replacing front wheel bearings on w124 1995 mb

procedure is the same for any 124 - the bearing sizes are a bit different though.

Consider the NAPA bearings - they're made by SKF. (Not their "proformer" variant. You can peek in the box to make sure first.)

the write up is pretty nice except for the greasecharge part, yes we know the bearing only uses 2 grams of grease in the races, but mercedes benz specified to use 65 + 10 grams of grease in the hub+bearings+cap.

Saw something odd on my 2000 C280 when I popped off the dust cap. The dust cap was totally devoid of grease. Grease around the bearing was Mercedes green. Car has 125m and I've owned it since 35m.

My car was similar too, no grease in dust cap and the grease in the bearings was genuine green MB grease but was blackish and looked spent (wax cake), blued bearing rollers too.

bearings were not noisy but I replaced the bearings with made in USA timken brand filled the 65 grams in hub and 10 grams in cap. I have been advised that this is good practice and keeps the bearing in good shape. It also is advised in the manual.
