W124 coupe mirror- different?

Is the 1993 W124 CE (coupe) rear view mirror different than the standard 124 mirror?

thanks,

AL

Are you referring to the outside door mirrors? They are different than the sedan and wagon. The inside mirror is the same I believe.

Yes, the 124 coupe door mirrors are definitely different than the sedans and wagons.

referring to REAR view mirror

Apologies if it's knows as something else for some, but to me, the mirror that sits above the dash at the top of the windshield has always been known as the "rear view" mirror. The mirrors that are at the sides of the car have always been known to me as the "side view" mirrors.

My question is actually two parts:

1. Are the 1993 300 CE coupe mirrors different than a regular 1993 300E mirrors?

2. Are the 1993 300CE Cabriolet mirrors different than the 1993 Coupe mirrors.

Thanks.

Benz, after taking a close look at our 1991 300CE and our 1995 E320 the rear view and side view mirrors look identical. Hope that helps you regarding the 124 coupe vs. sedan mirrors.

If you look up the side door mirror & sedan/wagon mirror part numbers, you will see they are different. I have examples of both in my parts stock and they are different.

Gerry, please post pictures showing the difference between the mirrors, or explain the difference because on a close inspection they appear identical. I could understand if the rear view mirror was slightly different to accommodate the different angle of the windshield in the coupe, but certainly the door configuration is similar ... only longer in the coupe.

The actual glass and housing shape of the mirrors is the same (including the asymmetrical nature of the mirrors) between coupe/convertible and sedan/wagon variants of the W124. The difference is in the mounting bases at the doors, given as mentioned the windshield angle and attachment point.

The early (manual adjust) 124 driver's side mirrors are applicable to all 124 sedans and wagons through the end of US model year 1992, as well as W201 models. The electric-adjust 124 passenger side mirrors are also applicable to W201 models. The later (1993-1995 US model year) electric adjust driver's door mirrors are a W124-only part.

For US models, the "coupe" driver's door mirrors are only applicable to models 124.051 (M103-based "early" 124 coupe) and 124.052 (M104-based 124 coupe) models. The 124 convertible (124.066) driver's mirror utilised the coupe mirrors, but there was a VIN break point for the convertibles as noted below. The passenger-side mirror is applicable to all 124 coupe & convertible variants (124.051, 124.052 and 124.066).

Coupe & early convertible (up to chassis #855528) driver's door mirror: 124 810 57 16
Late coupe & late convertible (from #855529) driver's door mirror: 124 810 81 16
Coupe & convertible passenger door mirror: 124 810 61 16

There are a few other variants for right-hand-drive cars that I won't go into here, as they are not applicable for North American vehicles.

Sedan/wagon driver's door mirror (manual adjust - 1986-1992): 124 810 49 16
Sedan/wagon driver's door mirror (electric adjust - 1993-1995): 124 810 77 16
Sedan/wagon passenger door mirror: 124 810 52 16

Thanks for your time and patience. I hope this was helpful in explaining my earlier posts on this thread.

Cheers,
Gerry
