Coolant and washer tank questions
 

This is for my W124 1991 300E.

After trying to understand why my reservoir tank was constantly low, I bought a new cap because the old one's rubber seal was disintegrating.

Nothing changed much, but upon further inspection, noticed some small cracks in the overflow hose.
Looks easy enough to replace, but don't think I will replace at the wheel well, right now. Gonna try to splice it until I have more time.

In researching "coolant leaks", posts came up about the window washer heater sometimes leaking and causing problems. Living in Hawaii, I will never use this heater, and decided to remove it. I bought two plugs to close the holes (1st pix).

Can I connect the 2 hoses I detached from the heater to close the flow (2nd pix) or are additional steps required?

Looks like the connection mod works, no issues to report so far.
