heater/blower 1985 300d

My #8 fuse gets very hot and has melted the fuse holder a little. I have replaced the blower motor and it is still doing the same thing. The blower will not blow the fuse on low but I can't run blower on high for very long tops 5 minutes maybe. After running the old or new blower on high for a few minutes the air smells bad not the common hot smell but kinda fishy . I had the a/c redone over the summer I mean the whole thing now #8 is blowing. I know this has been covered a few times but not with the smell . kinda new too these Mercedes any ideas would be greatly appreciate. Thanks

Most often the fuse fails due to blower bearings. Since you have replaced the motor, likely the fuse holder was compromised from the old motor, and now should be bypassed. You could try to retention the leaves, and clean them up with metal polishing liquid, but likely the damage is too far gone.
