Is this a serious problem in MBZ diesels? I just changed the coolant in my '83 300SD today and replaced it with 6 qts of Texaco Antifreeze and Coolant. I have 177K on this engine and am now concerned about this cavitation issue after reading about it being a problem with Ford truck diesels. Any comments or reassurance, would you recomment a coolant additve to combat this problem?

What are you referring to? Would you be more specific on cavitation. I have not heard of it before on the MB diesels.

Sometimes air can be trapped in cooling systems of any vehicle's engine. By filling the engine w/coolant while the thermostat is removed you can make sure that air will bleed out of engine! ALSO after starting engine turn heater to "EC" & turn temp wheel to max. to bleed any air from heater! Always watch temp gauge until temp reaches normal.
