B1 self adjusting piston

I like to now the procedure to reset the self adjusting B1 piston on a 722,5 tranny.
If I don't change the brake band for the B1 piston is it possible to install the B1 piston with out resetting it.

I have taking it apart B1 piston easier to install the Teflon seal without stretching it too much. Now the problem is to install the pices together again I guess the function is that the two pices move away from each other when the piston adjust when band wears.
Just push the thing back together is not the right way since the function is to stop movement in that direction, I am not sure if the right way to do this is take the parts apart and put the stem in first and then put the circular clip on the stem and the locking clip that lock the circular clip after that. then I have to assembly the locking clip for the stem. I am not sure of the right way to do this sure hope someone can tell me the right way.

  1. remove piston from piston cover
  2. press apart reatiner remove pin from piston cover leave reatiner in cover
  3. remove snap ring in brake band piston remove cup spring
  4. Insert pin in brake band piston
  5. slide cup spring over pin until spring rest on piston insert snap ring
  6. press the assembled piston over the piston cover and push until the retainer snap on the pin
Do not move the cover so the parts slide apart and press the piston in to transmission just so the retainer ring just can be put in place.

Hello sorry for my english im from eastern europe,I have this problem with my trasmission 600 sec, it starts in 1st shifts to 3rd, basicly no 2nd gear or slipping. And i tried everything, and i know the brake band b1 is OK, my mechanic probably put the self adsjusting piston in whatever way in. I suppose it was not the right way, but he was so sure so I didnt think about it until I mess with the valvebody to be sure, now after I did mess with the valvebody and the control valves to check operation ,the problem is still there so I need to move to the piston again and this time I need to be sure to do it right please explain me how to do it cause im not getting it from your description.

help would be much appreciated thank you.
