Converting a non-turbo 300D to Turbo...?
I have a customer with an 82 300DT who lost his engine, I have a very good running 300D non-turbo, my question is, can I install the turbo/manifold etc...onto this motor? The small details I can take care of...I was more concerned about injector timing, compression ratios..etc..
Thanks

NOT a good idea! The turbo engine is a "BEEFED-UP" engine & has a different injection pump & injectors.
Also the pistons have oil spray nozzles for cooling & the crank is hardened for the extra load.

But...as a side note...
if you were to remove the turbo, swap the exhaust manifold, change injectors, and the pump, and use non-turbo parts on the turbo engine...would you have a super long lasting diesel, (slightly under powered of course.)

It shouldn't be less underpowered than the original non-turbo. The turbo block has higher compression so that shouldn't be a source of loss. With the non-turbo cam and injection pump, you should be no worse off.
