Need little help with new 1994 e320 i just bought

Ok car pulls up squeling like all hell. I turn the wheel it comes and goes thinking loose belt , needs oil, powersteering? Guy leaves with the cash I turn car off then it wont start...give it a jump and its making a clicking noise under the hood to go with that the interior lights dim every time it clicks in harmony....any Ideas ? OVP to add to that he said the asr light just came on....

I have a battery and a new OVP from my wrecked e320 goona start there.

any help greatly appreciated thanks guys.

Belt tensioner likely has gone tits up and the belt was loose enough to squeel and also not spin the alternator enough to charge. Get the belt drive in order and it will likely be ok.

bru023, recommend checking the power steering fluid level and replacing the accessory drive belt when you replace the tensioner mechanism. Hopefully, the engine in your 1994 E320 has the newer style belt tensioner ... without the tensioner rod and shock absorber. That style is much simpler to replace, and no adjustment is necessary ... a far superior design to the tensioner in the older 124 cars. Also, check if the alternator is a Bosch with a voltage regulator attached to the back with 2 screws. If so, the voltage regulator brushes may be worn down so much that the alternator doesn't recharge the battery sufficiently.

Belt Tensioner

X2....a bad one really produces an annoying squeal.

And the next question will be do you buy an aftermarket tensioner made by Febi for $88 or the Trucktec for $72, or plunk down $377 for the MB OEM one.

I bought a 30 dollar one

Now im trying to figure out what belt to get because they have so many choices on this site...I guess it goes by engine #......I WAS Going to order a new shock but now in going to check first if mine has the shock is it visable?
