RPM drops slowly when releasing the gas padal

I have a 99 230 sport and my question is when I take my foot off the gas, is RPM supposed to be droppng slowly? or this is something with the car?

Most Benzes have a device that drops the engine RPMs down slowly to prevent engine stalling. If it drops too slowly there may be a malfunction.
