Tach sending unit
OK,
I'm alittle slow. My tach has been working off and on for sometime now. Did the search for the sending unit on the left fender and al(l with no luck I may add). Am I looking in the right place or can someone post a picture. Was brought to my attention that the sending unit is on the lower front of the motor by the crank pulley. Is this so? Funny, can do a valve guide and seal job, but cant seem to get my tach or my horn to work. Go figure.

I'm not sure I have a lot of help for you, but here's what I know:
- the box on the left fender is the ignition controller. It has 4 or 5 connectors on it; 2-3 small ones and 2 big ones. One of the small connectors is a coax. That's the one that comes from the inductive sensor at the crank pulley. - the inductive sensor is about at the 1 o'clock position above the crank pulley... I think. If the engine runs, I doubt the problem is with the sensor or the sensor cable. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 81 300SD |
