1985 W123: Drop fuel tank or run new vent line?

So far, no one has replied to my question, so giving up posting in one thread and just in one place.

In the saga of the plugged vent line, should I drop the tank or run new vent line from the tank fitting and to the outside?

Thank you so very much!
