5-speed for W124?
I happened upon this ebay listing:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1823315214 I would have posted this in the parts forum, but I thought it might stir some interesting W124 fitment discussion. What's the electrical connector for? Do factory 300E 5-speeds have the same shift gate/pattern as the 16V with first gear to the southwest? Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 81 300SD |
sixto,
I am not clear on the electrical connector or whether that might be the hydraulic line for the clutch. But to answer your other question, NO the manual 5-speed transmission on the W124 cars does not have the racing shift pattern of the 190E 2.3-16. It has a normal "H" pattern with 5th up and to the right. I get all screwed up once in a while switching from one car to other. The 300E will start in 2nd no problem though. I don't seem to have the problem of starting wrong in the 190E though. Thanks for the post, I got all excited by the $50 bid price and then saw the latest bid was over $200. My transmission is fine, but for that price you get a radiator, clutch and some other goodies. I will keep an eye on it though. Thanks, Jim |
This is for a 201 bodied 190E car, not a 124 car.
