yes I agree I am one of those hands on show me types. I have spent the day building a rig so I can test the fuel distributor and get the plunger depth set properly. I will get pictures for the post and explain what I did.

Angry fuel testing

ok as you can see in the picture I have rigged up a test center by hooking up battery to the fuel pump i can begin the pressure to the fuel regulator, what i have found is that at 3.4 bars the pressure regulator blows off and it fails to gain back to that 3.4 again it holds at 3.2 bars if i put my finger over the exit point i feel pressure and if i press my finger to the return line it gains just enough to pop off. now i did this with both fuel pressure regulators one from my 190E and the one from my 420 SEL i know james told me that they are not compatible but i wished to see what the reaction would be. I was surprised that they popped off at the same pressure. Now at that pressure nothing is happening at the top of the fuel distributor so what now?
New information on the fuel system, I removed the fuel pumps and installed the system on my 190 with the new pumps and i instantly got the pressure needed for the system to operate, though i still had no fuel at the top of the fuel distributor. Next was to try and adjust the center section (the portion of the fuel distributor that opens the flow channel). after several turns down I began to go in the opposite direction after two full turns past level with the lock nut the flow seems to be good. I will know more after I have the chance to test drive the car.

After chasing two separate issues first the rotor cap had failed so I did a complete tune up of plugs wires cap and rotor, fuel pumps and filter to get my fuel pressure trouble cured. Soon after that the plate had dropped and back into that for its cure. now I am repairing my test stand for the fuel distributor so I can reset the plunger and flow plate arm gap. all this drove me some what crazy but with the not giving in attitude and help from the folks on this forum it is getting done.
