If there's no documentation in or on your car that tells you, you can call your local MB dealer and give them the VIN #--they can tell you using that.

I don't think the 6.9 engine was factory produced in the R107 SL chassis. I've heard of some conversions, but they are durn expensive.
You're probably packing the iron block 4.5 engine. Don't despair though, as it's a great mill.
