What could I have forgotten?
I am in the process of replacing the head gasket on my 1988 190E 2.3
I've removed the head bolts...all 10 plus the four small ones in the front. exhaust manifold is separated...intake manifold as well. Chain tensioner and chain guide is out as well. Chain and sprocket are marked. Trans and oil dipsticks are off as well. HEAD WON"T COME OFF!!!!!!! I've tried tapping the head...nothing!...a little harder...nothing. I am tired and going to bed. If anyone out there can think of a chant? a dance? Please get back to me. I need to get this car running. I thank you all in advance.

I dont know but is that head pinned to the block ? If so, it has to come straight up.
Might consider driving a putty knife between the block and the head.

Been there. Different car. It feels crazy right? I had forgotten two down in the timing chain assembly.
