Headlight Debugging
I bought a 1993 300E 3.2 with a friend from an auction. We're going to resell it..
One of the things I was working on is I had a dim headlight, both bright and normal beam. Its been worked on before, with a new bulb connector that has been spade-connector installed. My first suspicion was to look at the ground, and it was corroded badly. I reran a wire. and then turned on the headlights and they both will not come on. I was only messing with one of them? So.. they were working.. with one dim, and then suddenly they aren't. Tailights come on, front signal lights, no. I'm going to verify no voltages, etc. I've read some say the multi-switch might be bad.. but it was working and then next time i turned it on, it didn't.. Any ideas? I was working with a solder iron, but I've never seen something like this happen.. |

Bulbs are new. Filaments look good. No voltage to the bulbs.
Fuses are clean, although aluminum.. but since both beams and headlights have a separate fuse.. seems unlkely they all 4 would stop working. I'm leaning towards the switch, although I'm really suspicious there is something else in line that is the culprit. Does anyone have a schematic for the headlight circuit? Thanks, TW |
