I am about to swap a 1976 300D out of a rusted W115 chassis and into a 1975 300D, also W115 chassis. I've been told it's a bear to get that 5 cylinder out. I have a crane hoist and a sling in my garage, much to my wife's chagrin, but I am interested in any pointers to make this as smooth a procedure as possible: e.g., optimal attachment point for the sling; is sling preferable to bolt-on chain, if so, where to bolt-on the chain; is it necessary to move, or remove, the steering relay arm, etc. Any tips would be much appreciated.

This is a tough swap. There is little room for getting the engine out. You must take out the radiator to get the engine out of the chasis.
