Coil not firing

My 300e stalled and refused to start after I cleaned the engine. Its not getting fire from the ignition coil to the distributor. I've checked the coil with a multimeter. It's within specs. I've heard that coils sometimes check ok when they are faulty. I have ordered another coil, which should arrive later this evening. My question is, if the vehicle still is not firing after I install the new coil, should I replace the Electronic Ignition Control Module? And if so, where can I get one at a reasonable price...

Thanks in advance for your advice,

Strongman

If you cleaned your engine compartment with water it's usually a kiss of death. Just give it a chance to dry out and you'll probably be ok. You might try removing the plug wires and using compressed air and blow any remaining water from around the spark plugs.

Thanks for replying, its been 4 days since the washing. I've used WD40 on the plugs and electical components. Everything appears to be dried out. I've checked the distributor cap, plugs, replaced the rotor.

Strongman,

If everything fails, you can try to buy a used one at Potomac Auto in St Augustine. You an find them at www.pgauto.com or take it to an independent MB mechanic for diagnosis.

Sparking and arcing

Have you tried checking it out in the dark? Is there a fusible link?

Finally

Well after all the trouble it turns out that the problem was the ignition coil. I replaced it today and the car fired right up. The ignition appears significantly more powerful. Thanks for all the advice..... J. H. I live on the northside of town.
