Will a 96 and older gas motor run without throttle control electronics?
As an interim to one of my projects, I might use a 96 and older computer on a M104 3.2 from a E320 / W210 . These have a mechanical throttle body with a slip clutch, motor and a throttle control box.
I won't be using ABS so obtaining a speed signal for the ASR won't be possible. Any idea that if I lock the slip clutch and don't have a throttle box will it run and drive? This is also posted in the Performance section Thanks |

...if you want something simpler then you'd have to go to pre-1983 engines (A M102 with a carb still has some form of electronic ignition although it is still vacuum dependent) |
I looked at the donor today, it does not have an ASR or snow tire switch so it looks like no throttle control box is there or will be needed.

90 to ~ 93 300SL and 300CE were CIS. The motors were a M103 24 valve with a distributor and intake ports different than the M104 EFI.
The ragged 91 300SL I have is the target for the 96 fuel system / 94 M104 motor I have. |
