Transmission compatability question W124
 

I've got a good friend with a 1989 300TE, and the transmission has failed.
I've got 95 E320 wagon parts car with low mileage good trans.

I know that the first gear start is on the 95 and the 89 has second gear start.

Will the 95 trans work in the 89?

I'm assuming outside stuff like the upshift delay will be removable, my question is primarily about the potential electronic and vacuum differences.
