Water out
 

I have a 1992 300e 3.0l. It is summer and this last week it has gotten very hot. My problem is this...once I turn my car off, after a drive, like 20 minutes of highway or city, my car spurts out radiatior fluid from the tank next to the battery. AC on, no AC on...does the same darn thing. I am using Preston anitfreeze. I currently have my Aux. Fans crosswired to keep the car cool. The temp is always in between those two middle bars. (I think thats 80-100 C) Anyhow this is very annoying and I used to love my car becasue It never gave me any problems, nowadays I am upset with it. Someone, please help me. Help me love my car again.

Saw the exact same thing today on a 300e. Customer had a bad radiator cap and a expansion tank leaking. They had air in the system from it leaking and spewing out coolant so much. We replaced thermostate , fill water pump ( below thermosate) full of coolant, disconnect upper radiator hose , fill coolant tank full of coolant until running from radiator . Take upper radiator hose full of coolant and put back on . Make sure resevoir full, put new cap on and run engine until thermostate open. Run heater until heat comes out .This should get all air out of system .Use Mercedes antifreeze , same price as any other good coolant.:D

Definitely sounds like a bad cap;) Had this exact problem and coolant only purged out after a longer than typical drive.

$6 repair.

There is a crack in my radiator cap, and the rubber seals look old...My car only waters out once i turn it off...i hope it isnt a crack in the block or a bad head gasket. But thank you for the help. One more thing...should I fill the expansion tank all the way so that it will not hold any more fluid?

Replace the cap, then remove the bolt (14mm) shown in picture. Fill resevoir until coolant begins to overflow from this hole, then replace bolt and fill until overflow resevoir (one with broken cap on it) is filled to the halfway line mark.

Many thanks to those who have helped. I now LOVE my car again. One of my fathers car's is a 95 e320...I switched radiator caps and went for a drive, ac on, and ac off. No water out....seems that it was just the cap (as soon as I took it off it over flowed)! I will be going to the dealer to buy a new cap and the pink mercedes radiator fluid. Thank you again to those who have helped me, it is much appreciated.

If you have green stuff in it now and plan on putting in MB coolant, whatever you do DO NOT mix the two. Mixing the two could cause solid matter to precipitate out, which could plug the system. Be sure to flush the system thouroughly, then add new coolant and water at a 50/50 or 45/55 mix.

To follow on Taka's post, the exact wording was something like "fill all the way up, the system will purge whatever it doesn't need".
