W211 CDI refrigerant charge amount
 

I'm looking for the weight of R134a specified for a full charge on my 05 CDI.

It's supposed to be on the radiator core support, but my car has had body work in front prior to my buying it from Tyler, so I no longer have the sticker on my car.

Well, turned out the compressor failed.

If you're used to the old style compressor, the new ones are a different paradigm.

There's no clutch plate on the new ones. The compressor turns all the time.
There is a signal sent to the compressor that causes the compressor to increase it's output. The compressor has a wobble plate that varies the displacement and the SDS system records a duty cycle for the compressor. Zero would be no displacement, and I saw up to 75% register when I was checking out the new installation.

All in all, the compressor looks smaller than the typical Denso compressor I'm used to on my W124 cars.

Modern technology, eh?

I am troubleshooting my '05 E320 wagon. Where do you measure the signal going to the compressor's valve? I'm not sure ours is bad-it was cooling fine intermittently, would go out (or start working) when the car hit a bump. The compressor is almost inaccessible with the engine running, and there's no clutch to see/hear. I know the driver's side SAM box feeds it, just can't find the wire.

I was reading it from the SDS computer..... It gives temp, pressure and duty cycle readouts.

Mine started to fail intermittently as well.....
New compressor fixed the problem.
