W123 200 carburettor fuel filter mistery
Hi there,
Just wanted to make sure :) I'm doing maintenance on my Euro w123 200 (m102.920 with Stromberg 175 CD carb) and i'm having a hard time of finding where the main fuel filter is. So whether there really is no other fuel filter apart from a plastic inline one? The w124 with the same engine has one at the rear underside of the car, but what about w123? Mine is a sedan. Many thanks and hoping, that there are still some carburated w123 out there. |
Before I got into Mercedes, I had a lot of carburetted American cars. They had an inline filter as the only fuel filter, so it's entirely possible that's your only one.

Many thanks for the replies!
After digging through the whole car and parts catalogues, I can confirm, that there is only an inline filter before the carb and a tank strainer, that bolts in the bottom of the tank. The w124s with the same engine have a different filter setup. By the way, after all these years the strainer in the tank was pretty clogged up :) |
