I have never been able to figure this out and neither has my MB dealership. My 92 400E runs fine. But when the temperature outside reaches 65 degrees the car gives problems. If I try to start the car it won't. It sounds like a dead battery or a flooded engine. After ten mintues of just sitting in the car it will start. This only happens when I try to start it. It can be 100 degrees outside but if it is already moving nothing happens. This only happens when I start it up or when it is in idle. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you give us a more detailed description of the problem? Give me a step by step when the problem occurs. I do have some ideas but would like to hear more specifics from you first.

When it is really sunny outside the problem occurs. The car is black on black so it really absorbs the heat. Anyway, when I get in the car to start it up it seems to kick over. It sounds like a dead battery. I try not to give up but if I wait five to twenty mintues without doing anything the car will start up. I always have to wait five mintues. This happens even if I leave the car in the sun for twenty mintues. This only happens when I try to start the car. In fact, I was doing 75 mph for two straight hours and then I stopped for some food. When I tried to start the car, it didn't work. This happens every sunny day. I want to say it is something with the battery but my MB dealership doesn't have a clue. This problem even occurs if the car is idle. thank for helping out!

Hey Benzmac, I know this is kinda rude, but did you figure out what was wrong with the car? Any suggestions?

Wow! This sounds a little spooky. The temp sensor on the engine would be the first place to start because the problem is temp related. Also check your wirring harness. If it is cracked inside of the coolant temp sensor, it could be sending the wrong info to the control module. This could also cause the problem....other things to look for are the camshaft sensor and the crank sensor. Why don't you register so I can e-mail you when I post to your question?

Thanks. I will mention it to my MB dealer next week when I take the car in for servicing.
