For months I've noticed an annoying chirping, or squeaking sound coming from somewhere in the dash everytime the car went over uneven pavement. Finally, while my wife drove I listened around and located the squeak coming from the shifter. Any ideas how to fix this?
Also, it may be unrelated, but about 20% of the time when I shift into drive I have to pull the shifter a couple of millimeters back in order to get it to catch in gear (rather than stay in neutral). Thanks!! |
Have a shop replace the shift rod bushings and the noise will go away!! They are small rubber bushings that will break away over time.
