A/C Compressor not shutting down no cycle
I am having a problem with my compressor. I purchased this car a yeay ago and have not used it much When I first got it the air worked for a bit maybe 30 min, the compressor went out, so I replaced it with a rebuilt, I started the car and hit the a/c switch and the clutch engaged, and there is oil in the compressor. So I pulled it down and let it hold down for an hour. I then had it recharged with R12. It blowes cold but the clutch does not cycle off even with the a/c off. That could of been the cause of the first compressor going south. What next? could it be a pressure switch ? Any Ideas ? The only way to shut it down is to unplug it. Thanks Ed

Which car is it? Does the pulley turn freely with the belt off? ( sometimes clutch is too close to hub assy and it will not disengage.) :D

The clutch is working, the only way it will stop is to unplug it, then the clutch disingage. When I plug it back in, the clutch engage's. 1987 190E 2.3

Sounds to me the climate control relay socket has been jumped or the relay is defective

Could also be a bad evaprorator temp sensor. You probably need to do a function test. Do you have the cd on this car?

I don't have the cd on this model. I will replace the evap temp switch and relay. That may solve it. That could have have been the cause of the first compressor going south.
