In love with my new W108

I have a one man merceded repair shop and I have owned MANY MB cars over the years and have really enjoyed them, but I have aquired my first 108. I bought it in December with carb issues and finally got them rebuilt and tuned this week. The car is fantastic. It is an entry level 108 being a 250S 4 speed, but it is a just a sweetheart of a car. I bought it from the original owner and he had kept every single record since January 1967. The car is in driver condition and I have a small list of projects to do on it, but my initial plans of flipping it are not looking very likely....

Very nice Andrew. Was the original owner a customer? You now have a lot of envious forum members. Ha!

Thanks Parshoot. I actually found the car on Craigslist. It's a neat car. I always thought I wanted a 6.3, but I love the simplicity of this car, and it really doesn't leave me wanting for more. Anyone who wants a low investment classic sedan should really consider a 6 cyl w108. This and my 1971 250C have been two of my favorite cars and both are extreamly undervalued.

That reminds me of the one that got away. It was a green 1970 280SE. It was sold to the place I worked at the time and I had the opportunity to drive it. It felt quite fast and the automatic transmission worked flawlessly. Interior and exterior were in good shape. However, at the time I was up to three Benzes, and I ended up losing my job before I had the chance to buy it.

Congrats on the new purchase. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Nice Entry!

My first Mercedes was a W108 the same color as yours. I prefer the sedans as they are plentiful, inexpensive to acquire and parts are affordable. If the lottery lands on me I would love to acquire an Adenauer or an early fifties Cabriolet.

Your car is beautiful.
