O.E.M. parts

Anyone have experience with O.E.M. parts ( not OEM)? I need flex disk and they are available here and cost $100 less than dealer.

Ismalley, Thanks for the response. Pelican list 2 flex disk, Brand O.E.M for $76.00 and Genuine Mercedes (OEM) for $169.25.
I am not trying to be a cheapskate, but a savings of almost $200.00 for 2 disk is worth doing some research, which I am trying to do now.
Brand O.E.M. is an after market company and is NOT a supplier to the manufacturer. Note the periods in O.E.M.
I have not heard of anything good or bad about them.
Have you heard bad things about them?

Thanks
Paul

In some more research I find that Brand O.E.M. is an OEM supplier for Porch and BMW, so I assume that they are a good choice.
Any comments on this assumption?

Thanks

oe for that car's flex discs were jurid. I doubt oem is any supplier for mb or Porsche. however, URO is now an oe supplier to jaguar.

I have access to oem brand for some parts and have not had an issue-yet. I won't use their flex discs. I get febi or jurid.

just get the real part. if that cheap one comes apart at speed, the d/shaft comes off and that's a real mess, transmission and airbag-wise. not worth it. good luck, chuck.

I advise against it...

OE or Lemforder. .. 100 is a paltry sum compared to changing cars after failure...

There is a company called "O.E.M" that sells chinese parts. I wouldn't play the game.

The Genuine MB flex disks aren't expensive online...There never any point getting anything in person at the dealership unless its an emergency because its ALWAYS going to be more expensive, plus tax. Plus if your dealer is a Penske dealer like mine is, they will jack up the list price and then call the price under list a "deal"!

Both of you are correct. It is never a good idea to use anything except the best, EXCEPT when your money tree dies. We are retired without any income except SS and some savings. On this site Pelican Parts shows 2 flex disk. One is Brand O.E.M. for $76 and the other OEM Mercedes for $169.25. That is a difference of $186.50 for 2 flex disk. Nothing to you but a lot to us. Ismalley references a site that says they may be Lemforder. Would you accept Lemforder? The 'E500 Parts Manufacturer Quality List' indicates Lemforder is good.
My original question was have you heard anything good or bad about Brand O.E.M?
Please understand I will pay for OEM if I can't find a substitute at a lower cost. I am just looking for information that will help me make the decision.

Thanks again

PaulM

Paul M,
I also am retired with a "droopy" money tree. I know this sounds strange but have you checked with Amazon.com? I found identical Bosch coils for $55 that the dealer and others wanted $110 ea. I've found a number of Benz items on this site. Good luck.

Lemforder can be purchased for W123 for under $60 bucks. German Made German quality. Mercedes Flex Disc Kit W114 W115 W123 Guibo Drive Shaft Coupler Germany | eBay

I don't know your make or model, but $60 bucks a pop for German quality is not too bad IMO.

Lemfoerder is a good brand. O.E.M. is not. Be careful as if you don't get Lemfoerder your stuck with garbage.

I have bought a flex disc sold as O.E.M. from the site in arizona and the package was a febi red box with a jurid item in it - ordered it for a w126

I also bought a disc from pelican marked as O.E.M. and it was a lemforder disc when it came to me.

I dont know what the deal with the OEM marking is anyway - but sharing my 2 cents.

Well I ordered the O.E.M. flex disk to see what I would get. I was told I could return them if I wasn't pleased with them. Well they came today in Febi boxes. The disk were marked with SGF and Made in Germany. After a lot more research I find out that SGF makes 90% of the flex disk made. They are OEM for 90% of the manufactures that use flex disk including Mercedes. So I think I will give them a try.
