Voltage regulator

I have Mercedes 280 SE 1972 4.5.

Battery always need charging. I checked alternator at the competent and told me that charge and has no malfunction.
A possible tell me where to place an organized effort for this car.
Not inside alternator, but external (external).

Your vehicle has an external voltage regulator. Have you checked it?

sjalood what voltage have you at the battery? 13 .4 volts is what you need out put .How old is the battery on the car . Clean up the connections on your battery? + and - .. .

The battery is new and I checked it is very good.
Voltage over 12V after start over 14 V.

Your vehicle has an external voltage regulator. Have you checked it? Wher is it?
