ICV Removal for 88 190e 2.3
 

I would like to remove and clean my ICV. I know there are 2 hoses to remove but I don't understand how it is attached via the rubber holder and cannot find where it is attached? Do I have to get under it? does it slide off? I've included a picture.

Also, in it's current state, it looks pretty clean inside, but the "valve" appears to be open by about 1/8". Is that right? Thanks for the help.

Yes, at rest it's about an 1/8 inch or so. When I remove mine, I reach under the intake boot and pull the bottom ICV hose out of the intake boot. It is connected via a plastic nipple. Then I take the ICV out along with the bottom hose connected to the ICV.

Thanks. I'll take a closer look. I had to put everything back, went for a drive and in park my idle is revving over 3000rpm. Kinda scary. In drive I'm at 1200, still too much. Sounds like time for a new icv. Didn't see much that needed to be cleaned as far as the old icv is concerned.

Make sure you're getting power to the ICV. Also, it be vibrating/pulsating at idle.

Well, I spoke with a knowledgeable friend and determined that spraying a little chem tool in the ICV would be fine as it evaporates. Good news! It worked. Idling perfectly, also in my investigation found a broken throttle return spring so I replaced that too! All is well. Thanks. I love an inexpensive fix!
