W211 Facelift Front Bumper

Does anyone know what it takes to do a W211 facelift on an early car?

I have an 06 CDI with a cracked front bumper. I was considering getting a sport package or E63 front bumper as those seem to be widely available aftermarket.

An 03-06 E-sport or E55K bumper would be the obvious direct fit, but for whatever reason they are hard to find.

An E63 bumper is a common mod on E55s, does the bumper just bolt on or do you need to change the grill?

Thanks!

A few months ago, A friend and I parked our W211s side by side.

My recollection was that the hood, grille, headlights and bumper cover all differed between an 05 (mine) CDI and an 07 Blutec. It appeared that the headlights could interchange, but the grille shape was different enough to require the matching hood and bumper cover.

We also joked about the changing the name on the trunklid from Blutec to Bluetick, as we were in the foothills of south Carolina at the time.......

The grill does appear different, it comes to more of a point at the bottom, but I agree the headlights, while the reflectors and projector are different, I think their overall shape is the same.

Really what I need to do is find a second hand OEM sport package front bumper, preferably already in black.

Early gassers are getting beat enough that they are starting to show up in droves at junkyards.

Thanks for the insights Jim! I need to send Tim and update on his car.
