Angry 87 190E 2.3 Compressor Stuck On

The compressor will not shut off. I have checked the temp switch and pressure switch. It will run without any freon. The only way to stop it is to unpulg it at the compressor or pull the fuse. Help please. I changed the relay in the fuse box also. Could it be the climate control unit ? I am about to give up. Thanks Ed

Yeah, I would start thinking about a new "Klima" relay, over behind the battery.

If you find the relay, there should be a part number on it. There are 2 black relays behind the battery (behind the black plastic panel). One will say "Klima" on it, that's the one. The other one is the fuel pump relay.
I'm sure Phil at partsShop will know what you mean if you mention the Klima (klee-ma) relay, i guess it would otherwise be called the climate control relay or compressor relay, but is pretty much universally called the klima relay. I'm sure they carry it.

Wink

Do you know the part number for the kilma relay and do you know if partsshop or fastelane carries it ? Is there another name for it. Thanks ED

Talking

Traced it down, bad relay. It works now, there is no klima relay someone made a relay and put it in the kilma socket. I think I am looking in the right spot , the bad relay I found is behind the kickdown module behind the battery. That is where the bad relay was. Thanks you all for your help Ed

Yes, the one that has an RPM listed and also says "kickdown" is the fuel pump relay. The kickdown and rpm info relates to the rev limits for the relay, as the relay is the engines over-rev protection.
