location of crankshaft position sensor 89 300se

I know the the one end of the sensor plugs into the ezl. then goes into the plastic channel that holds the wire harness then goes down near the intake near cylinder 5.I can not find any info on where it ends. above the starter?behind the starter? also does it take an allen or a star socket to remove, and what size. thanks again. inline six. 3.0 89 300se

Yes yours is the same as mine 6 in line .The cps is located on the bellhousing and held on with allen bolt or star bolt. You can check this CPS . Just sit in you car spin the engine over ,look at the rev counter is it moveing in any way ,in that i mean not stationary. If you see a movement in the pointer of you rev counter your CPS is ok . Why do you need to remove it?

The part you see above the CPS is the oil pressure sending unit which is attached to the oil pipe just below the oil filter.

The #1 reason to replace an CPS is if your car has an issue with cold and especially warm starting.

Slightly different stranding issue on my '83 380sel V-8. She starts, idles, drives...for 5-10 mins. then sputters to a stop. I Patiently wait 5-10 mins. and she starts again and runs a while then sputters to a stop...repeat to get home. Answers?...CPS?
