What's the difference between early and late W201 front control arms

I see two different part numbers for for early and late W201 control arms.
For the left control arm 84-86: 1243303807. 87-93: 1243301807. They appear identical in photos.

Is there any reason I can't use the late control arm on the early car?

They should be interchangeable. I think even across models that had the wishbone LCA, sometimes the parts are superseded and take on a new number, but should still work just fine.

The 124 330 38 07 is for the 201.024/122/126 only.
And the 124 330 18 07 is for the 201.028/029/128 only.

The early LCA was superceded by the current because Mercedes chose to just offer the "sport" bushings on all.
