compatible cars

I'm looking at heading to some wrecking yards for some parts. I'm wondering if most w201's are compatible. The website for the pick-in-pull just has their cars listed year and that it's a 190. don't know about diesel/gas or what size engine.

I'm guessing most diesel engine parts aren't compatible with a gas.

What I'm looking for is a electromagnet fan clutch. Coolant temp sensor for the fan clutch and one of the aux fan. Also a radiator with transmission cooler in it.

I have a 1984 190e 2.3l automatic. Will those parts fit from the 2.6 or 16 valve 2.3 or any of the diesel variants? Was the electromagnet fan clutch the same for all w201 years?

Thanks.

The 84 is an "odd duck" in the W201 world. The engine and related pieces changed in 1985. You can confirm you have an early car by the single nozzle hood squirter,

I strongly suggest you get access to Mercedes' online EPC catalog. It's free for US residents (you have to provide CC information to verify residence but there is no charge) to make sure you get the right parts.

Good suggestion by MTI. You will also find when you check in at PNP, you can tell them what parts you are looking for on your particular car, and they will print out for you which years and models are compatible. The printout will also usually tell you if they have the compatible car and what row its in. Wish I could buy stock in that company!

That's good to know. I'll have to call them. The website only lists that its a 198x 190. There's about 7 of them within a 3-5 hour drive.

I don't think the 2.6 (M103) has the magnetic clutch you want. But the 2.3s are probably more abundant especially in scrap yards. Radiator for the 2.6 is bigger. The sensors are a nightmare and changed through out the years. I think the biggest tipping point was about 1988 <= don't know for sure though

The 2.6 uses the viscous clutch fan, so no dice there.
