Unhappy Can't bleed right caliper 95 E420

Hello All,

Recently I went on vacation for 3 weeks. That was the good part, now I face an issue with my 1995 E420 front right caliper.

The first time I drove the car after my vacation I've noticed that it pulls to the left. Wen I slammed the brakes the left side abs was activated but not on the right.

So I took of the passenger side wheel off and inspect the caliper. Upon inspection I've notice that the pistons were not moving whatsoever. I pushed them back to check if the pistons are not seized and fortunately they were not.!

So I thought that the flex hoes was old and maybe was clogged up, and I replaced it. I've noticed that NO FLUID came out when the hoes was of the main line. ODD....

Tried to bleed the line the conventional way (2 person) and still NO FLUID came out.

1. Container is full and no sign of leaking break fluid.
2. Surprisingly the rest of the breaks work properly.

So the overall is -> 3 out of 4 breaks are working properly. The passenger side caliper doesn't get any break fluid.

Any advice is very appreciated....

For the sake of clarity (!)

Are you saying that with the new flexible line detached on the problem corner you still do not get fluid out of the hard line?

OR

Is everything connected with the new flexible line and still nothing comes out of the bleed nipple of the calliper?

Bleed the left rear in order to verify that the master cylinder is working correctly on that circuit. Then try bleeding the right front again.
If the left rear doesn't bleed either, you may want to start with a bench bleed to ensure air is out of the master cylinder bores, then do a a full bleed.

If that is the case and you still have the other front wheel apply pressure then you have a blocked brake line to the wheel you are repairing. Does the open line spray brake fluid when you pump the brakes? does the other front wheel displace brake fluid if you try to bleed it?

reason to say is that hydraulics require a stoppage to work. If you have brakes at the front then there is quite a clog somewhere.

reason to mention the "other front wheel" is that MB split brakes as front and rear which is also mentioned on the master cylinder as V and H, vorne and hinten (front and rear)

I suspect the ABS pump to be having a clog in the circuit going to the faulty wheel. try tapping with a rubber mallet.

Stretch...

You may be on to something because when I looked into the brake fluid tank it had some sort of flakes posable trash.

I'm bleeding the rear breaks now and they seem to be working great. Moving to the front now.

Question.... If I disconnect the pipe from the abs and blow it out with air, how should I bleed out the abs if air gets into it.

Thanks in advance...

Zulfiqar......

Just bled the front left and it does shoot out strong. In this case I guess there may be blockage in the line for the right caliper....

please check for kinks in the metal line, all the way to the ABS pump.

try tapping the pump head with a mallet, be careful with it though.

If you remove a line - you can easily purge out the air from the pump with a powerbleeder. Hopefully you have been on top of brake fluid flushes every 1 or 2 years and the pump is not corroded internally.

Zulfiqar....

I will try your method of blowing out the metal line with the compressor, and I did trace the line for kinks, fortunately it has none....

Now for the brake fluid flushes have not been done and I don't have the maintenance history of the car, but it's safe to say that it hase not been done in the last 5 years or so......

So It all worked great.

I've changed the ABS unit and everything works as it should be.
Bled the breaks and it was not hard at all, I even did it the old fashioned way( pumping the pedal and i release the liquid), and the ABS had no air pockets at all, lucky me.

It only cost me $44 dollars for a used ABS unit from ebay.

Thank you all for you advises and greatly appreciated.
