Throttle Body Actuator for 92 400e

Any body tackled this before.
It sits recessed within the intake.
Do I need to remove the intake to get at it, or is there room around the intake to remove it.
While I'm in there is there anything else I shld do

You can remove and replace the throttle actuator motor as an assembly without removing the manifold. You will probably want to replace the throttle position switch as well.

Most 400e's have bad wiring harness on the throttle actuator, so I take it you are replacing it. To remove, remove air filter housing, uplug throttle actuator, unplug air mass meter. Loosen clamp on air mass meter (7mm) . Remove Mass meter. There is a boot for the air mass meter that rips sometimes you might want to replace it now. Remove the other clamp on throttle actuator that holds this boot on , remove boot. Pop the linkage off of the side of the actuator, disconnect the spring but dont let it come off of the backside of intake. Remove the 4 (5) allens in the actuator. You will have to turn the actuator differant angles to remove it. Replace gasket also on bottom. ( i take some adhesive and spray the gasket and then stick it to the actuator when going back together so it stays in place) You need to leave the key on for 5 minutes or so after replacing actuator so it can learn its closed throttle stop.:D

Okay now tell me this.....

My car was idling the other day and missing rather badly when cold till it reaches Normal Op.Temp. Using just by mouth/lungs, I blew down into the "Carb". The car died! It started right up but why would a little "Hot" air kill it?

That is normal due to the mass air flow meter, same thing as restricting flow by putting your hand near it. All you did was blow in increasing flow and freaked it out. You see that screen on top of there, people always put their palm on it and damage it , this causes incorrect air flow that will also cause running problems. done alot of these.:D
